Collapsible Storage box project
The Problem:
Lodestar’s customer was facing issues with its present storage box design and sourcing from the only supplier they had.
Lodestar’s Solution:
- Made key design changes to structural members to reduce weight, improve strength and reduce cost.
- Developed a unique shutter door design
- Developed the supply chain for the product including identifying source for lightweight high strength composite panels and the fabricator needed to produce such a piece of equipment. This included establishing production processes, and quality controls
Results
Lodestar’s solution enabled the customer to
- Focus production resources on assembling such a bolt-on storage systems which raised throughput by over 25%
- Reduce costs around 20%, resulting in substantial increase in net margins.
